Title I News and Information

Hi everyone! My name is Melanie McGuire and I am the Title I Coach here at Carolina Forest.  I started my teaching career in 2010. I taught first grade for seven years at Bell Fork Elementary and third grade for four years at Swansboro Elementary before moving into this role. This will be my fifth year in this position. I love being able to support the staff, students, and families and truly think our school is one of the best in the county. Onslow County Schools — Federal Programs, Title I — has purchased access to the Parent Institute Digital Library, a bilingual (English/Spanish) online resource hub to strengthen family engagement and support student success.

Key features:

  • Research-based one-page handouts, newsletters, and short guides organized by grade level (early childhood through high school)

  • Topics include academics, study habits, attendance, social-emotional learning, mental health supports, and school–family communication

  • Culturally responsive, editable materials that are mobile-friendly and ready for print or digital distribution

  • Ideal for parent workshops, back-to-school communications, and targeted family outreach

  • Helps increase parent involvement, reduce barriers for Spanish-speaking families, and promote consistent strategies to improve attendance, engagement, and academic outcomes
